Cheddleton Flint Mill
Cheddleton Flint Mill Industrial Heritage Trust is a Registered Charity. The Trust exists to preserve and interpret a working example of a pottery materials grinding mill. Our aim is to interest and educate the public and to preserve an important example of England’s industrial heritage.
The Trust was formed to preserve a unique watermill with 2 large waterwheels. Its uniqueness derives from its role in the developing pottery industry of the late 18th century. At this time, the mill was converted to grind flint and a 2nd mill was constructed for the same purpose. It is one of only three pan-grinding mills left in North Staffordshire and the only water-powered flint mill that is still operational.
