Eccleshall is hometown of an international company that provides solutions for digital marketing to the world. In the heart of the West Midlands, Extramile communications not only offers an experienced and awarded trajectory designing responsive design websites; it is also a local leader in environmental compliance.

ISO 14001

Previous support from sben in 2012 through and environmental audit and a clear environmental mind-set, drove Extramile to pursue ISO 14001 accreditation in the past.

This accreditation; not common in digital marketing services branch, brought new business opportunities with the public sector, blue chip companies and the chemical manufacturing industry.

The audit was conducted by Environmental Support through Partnership (ESP) previous to an ISO 14001 UKAS. One of the highlights of the result of the audit was founding that the EMS surpassed the EMS procedural requirements and areas of good practices.

Facing New Challenges

Changes made in the ISO 14001 accreditation by 2015, raised a new challenge for the companies that were already certified. The gap analysis made by ESP will help Extramile in the near future to make all the necessary activities and adjustments needed to acquire the 2015 ISO 14001 accreditation. The success of the transition will rely not only in the implementation of the measures, but also on the initial conditions registered before.

Good Practices

Getting the ISO 14001 accreditation was not the end of the environmental management actions of the company; in 2014 Extramile received funding through sben, framed in the Eureka moment scheme, part funded by the European Development Fund. The resources were invested in an ISO 14001 gap analysis, finding small improvement opportunities that were easily implemented.
