Valley Northern were referred to LCBEP through Ryan at the Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Business Helpline and the LCBEP team contacted Darren Pittock to discuss their opportunities.
Specialist low carbon consultant Environmental Solutions through partnership (ESP) visited Valley Northern to undertake a free LCBEP energy review that looked at all aspects of the business; existing EMS, vehicles and transportation, buildings, insulation and glazing, heating, cooling and lighting.
LCBEP Recommendation
Already having an Environmental Management System (EMS) in place, Valley Northern was keen to push for further improvements where possible.
Their lighting system consisted of a mixture of fittings as below and their premises were heated by an old gas boiler and radiators in the office areas and two freestanding gas-fired warm air blowers and industrial air tubes in the warehouse.
Potential energy savings were identified through updating lighting and heating equivalent to around 13.7 tonnes CO2 and £3,053 per year.
