Blu Sky Technical Services

Blu Sky Technical Services, based out of Uttoxeter, is providing a sustainable solution for synthetic carpet waste by converting it into high-quality polymeric products. By deconstructing the carpet back into fibre and then by using an extrusion process to produce plastics pellets, capable of being used for chemical recycling, injection moulding, packaging and other processes. Along with this will modify these pellets to have the required mechanical properties for industry.

The business is set up to primarily to work with the events carpet industry to buy back the carpet that is used for covering flooring at event venues i.e NEC, EXCEL, Coventry Arena, Earls Court, Manchester Arena, etc. to convert this carpet back into valuable plastic pellets that can then be reused within the plastics industry for:

– Automotive applications interior and exterior
– Packaging
– Garden furniture
– Chemical recycling

By working with the events carpet industry, Blu Sky Technical Services is adding a valuable service to divert this carpet from landfill and recover the hidden value within the carpet. They fully understand that the final properties of the pellet may not be to the requirement of the industry, and as such, by partnering with formulators and colour houses Blu Sky Technical Services will be able to modify the material to the required specifications for the intended purpose.

Founded by Michael Thompson, the business stands at an excellent chance to captivate a niche in this thriving industry that is full of opportunities for growth, efficiency, and positive change.
