Michelin has helped a Trentham school complete a spring makeover with a donation of surplus office furniture.

As part of its all-sustainable approach, Michelin ensured the surplus furniture was re-used by gifting it to Ash Green Primary Academy, which is part of the Societas Trust.

The new furniture was put in place over the school Easter holidays, ready for the start of the summer term.

John Howe, Managing Director of Michelin in the UK and Ireland, said: “By repurposing items we no longer need, but that still have years of usefulness ahead of them, we demonstrate our clear commitment to an all-sustainable future, which is underpinned by Michelin’s ‘People, Profit and Planet’ strategy.

“A simple gesture such as this has many knock-on benefits.

“As well as avoiding waste, we provide cost-savings for the school and, most importantly, have helped Ash Green Primary Academy enhance their environment for pupils and staff.”

The donated furniture included tables, desks, chairs, cupboards, drawers, shelves and flipcharts.

Jodie Kessel is Headteacher at Ash Green Primary Academy. She said: “We are deeply grateful for the incredibly generous donation of furniture by Michelin.

“Their kindness is truly appreciated, and the furniture will make a significant difference in replacing some of our older items.

“It will be enjoyed by our children, staff and visitors alike.”
