Grants for Heat Pump Technology Development Across the UK
The Heat Pump Ready Innovation Funding Competition is offering grant support for applied research and development projects focused on advancing heat pump technologies. The initiative aims to address barriers to uptake, including the capital cost of hardware, in-property changes, space requirements and installation time from accepted quote.
Up to £20 million is available, with individual awards ranging from £200,000 to £2 million. Funding is intended for the design, build and testing of electrically driven heat pump systems and components that use ambient heat from air, ground or water to provide heating and hot water in domestic buildings.
Projects are expected to reach Technology Readiness Level 9 and Commercial Readiness Level 9, supporting market deployment by 2030. The programme also includes acceleration support delivered by an external partner and independent evaluation of progress and impact.
Applicants must be private sector organisations, either applying individually or as part of a consortium led by a private sector business. Eligible organisations include UK incorporated companies and overseas firms with a registered UK presence.
Projects must demonstrate innovation not yet commercially available in the UK and, where relevant, achieve a seasonal performance factor of at least 3.5 in real-world domestic settings.
The deadline for applications is 25 June 2026 (13:00). For more information see the link below:
