Overview
The all-in-one hub for health and fitness, Beaconside Sports & Fitness Ltd, was able to identify the opportunities and benefits installing a 35 kWh Solar PV Array would bring to their facility having undertaken a free Energy Assessment, completed by ProEnviro Ltd. The Energy Assessment was helpful in highlighting where savings could be made. It offered clear options for reducing overall energy use, giving the company the confidence to progress with a low carbon investment.

How the funding supported them
Beaconside Sports & Fitness secured a 50% grant towards the solar and a loan to cover the full up-front costs of the project at £30,533. They did not have to bear the weight of the full amount from their own cashflow. This allowed them to continue their usual operations without worrying about a reduced budget; and they were able to begin the project, which would not have gone ahead without the funding.
Huge Energy Savings
The benefits of the installation have been substantial. The solar array will provide around 12% of the facility’s annual energy usage, helping the business save approximately £6,631 each year in reduced energy bills. The system generates an annual energy saving of 33,907 kWh and reduces carbon emissions by 7 tonnes of CO₂ per year. With a payback period of around 4.6 years and the additional grant funding that covers 50% of the total project, their payback period will halve, enabling them to see their investment pay for itself after 2.3 years.
