Annual Update

Web Optic Ltd, a Stafford-based website design company, used grant funding to install a modern boiler and upgrade to LED lighting after an initial energy assessment highlighted opportunities for improvement and the expected benefits. One year later, we checked in to see how these upgrades have improved their premises.

“The office is noticeably more comfortable throughout the year, the new lighting provides a much brighter working environment for our team, and we’re already seeing reductions in our energy consumption.”

Satisfying Savings

With the combined project costing of £3,403 and the saving estimated to be £1,466 they will be able to see a financial difference in 2.3 years, but when accounting for their 50% grant funding, their payback period halved to 1.2 years! They are now operating on a new net positive, saving of £1,466 a year.

“The improvements have performed as projected and we’re pleased with the results. Alongside lower energy consumption, we’ve benefited from a warmer, more comfortable office during the winter and much improved lighting quality throughout the premises. The long-term reduction in both energy costs and carbon emissions makes the investment worthwhile.”

Thinking Ahead

Taking steps in improving your business premises and becoming more energy efficient is a great way of taking control of your future. Updating your premises allows you to reduce your energy consumption, and in doing so you are not only saving money, but you are less reliant on the gird for your energy. Web Optic Ltd managed to reduce their energy consumption by 11,583 kWh per year, by making two small changes.

“Combined with our existing 9kWp solar installation, these improvements have significantly reduced our reliance on purchased energy and form part of our long-term commitment to reducing our environmental impact while keeping operating costs under control.”
