Free Energy Assessment

Specialist low carbon consultant, Pro Enviro Ltd., visited Freshview Foods Ltd in May 2025 to undertake a free energy assessment that looked at all aspects of the business.

Pro Enviro comprehensive report outlined 5 recommended areas which if implemented would reduce their annual energy bill by approximately £55,342, their energy usage by roughly 197,432kWh, and their greenhouse gas emissions by 44.4 tons of CO2e per year! The estimate total cost of this would be £155,900.

What did you think of the Energy Assessment application process?

“The application for the Energy assessment was straightforward. The Energy Assessment itself was carried out very professionally and with little interruption to daily life here at Freshview Foods Ltd. We found the final report easy to understand and it put forward several realistic options for energy/carbon savings, which we have since implemented.

‘Also, the team, at Staffordshire County Council, have been there to hold our hands throughout the process and have been brilliant throughout.”

The energy assessment found an opportunity for an authorised supply capacity (ASC) reduction. This means that the maximum amount of electrical power (kVA) that the site is contractually allowed to draw from the electricity distribution network at any one time can be reduced. This is due to the actual energy consumption being lower than the consumption level used to calculate the existing charge. Therefore, Freshview Foods Ltd would be able to save an estimated £5,200 per year by discussing the contract with the electricity supplier to get the charge reduced, using the energy assessment as evidence of the lower capacity required. This would cost them £0 to implement.
