Background
Celebration Packaging Ltd, a long-established food packaging supplier in East Staffordshire, was seeking ways to reduce its energy bills and improve their environmental performance. Through the BEAS Green Solutions Programme, they received a free Energy Assessment which identified Solar PV as an ideal opportunity for cost and carbon savings.

With support from the BEAS Low Carbon Grant, Celebration Packaging Ltd installed a 33 kWh Solar PV Array. The grant covered half of the project costs, enabling the business to implement the solution quickly despite competing financial demands.
“The Green Solutions Programme has helped Celebrate Packaging Ltd identify which projects would give us the best value in terms of reducing our C02 emissions and saving costs. The Low Carbon Grant funding has enabled us to install the 33 kWh Solar PV Array very quickly.”
Impact & Savings
The installation is projected to deliver £6,829 annual financial savings which eases pressure from rising energy costs; the 28,319kWh yearly reduction in electricity consumption, saves 6.4 tonnes CO₂ each year. This all equates to a 2 year payback period, after the grant support, making the investment highly cost effective.
These savings strengthen the company’s sustainability credentials while freeing up funds to reinvest into other operational priorities.
Why This Matters
Without the grant, implementing the Solar PV System so quickly would have been challenging due to cash‑flow pressures.
“We were able to move forward with the Grant which was straight forward. The Solar PV Array has substantially reduced our electricity expenditure; it would have been difficult to implement the recommendations so quickly due to competing demands on cash flow.”
The BEAS Grant Scheme helps local businesses take meaningful steps toward reducing energy usage and their environmental impact. For Celebration Packaging Ltd, the support enabled rapid progress to become more environmentally sustainable and save money in the long term, which they can then invest back into their business.
