Small Changes, Big Savings
Freshview Foods Ltd, a wholesale of fruit and vegetables company in Newcastle had an energy assessment (which you can read about here). They then embarked on a journey to receive both a grant and a loan.
They choose to complete 6 projects, 5 of which had a price, but one was free to complete, but had an annual saving of £5,400! This small change was a ASC (Authorised Supply Capacity) Reduction. It shows how small changes can make a huge saving difference.
Their largest change was implementing a 208.28 Solar PV Array, costing £157,502. They received a grant of £50,000 to support them with this. This change alone would give them an estimated saving of £51,447 with an energy savings of 233,734 kWh and 53.8 tonnes of carbon.
“The program has helped us significantly reduce our reliance on Grid Electricity and reduce our energy usage, which intern reduces our carbon output which was the main driving force for this.”
A Helping Hand
Although the cost savings may look too good to be true, they come at a hefty price that may be too much for a business to take on. But that is where our grant and loan come in. The grant was able to pick up 50% of the cost, and the loan was able to lift the load so that a business could pay the project back over a period of 2 years. Allowing Freshview Foods Ltd to gain the benefits of the project sooner but paying the price in a more reasonable amount.

The financial savings from this project will enable Freshview Foods Ltd to continue to invest back in the business for future growth and support further energy saving initiatives.”
